Open Positions

Senior Accountant

ATMOS Financial Services Inc. (ATMOS) is seeking a full-time, seasoned Senior Accountant with expertise in Canadian tax and accounting. We are looking for an individual who excels in working directly with clients, possesses the ability to mentor fellow team members, and has a proven track record of operating within a cloud-based software ecosystem. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with the option to work from either our Meaford or Drayton offices in Ontario if preferred.

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Take the lead in managing compilation engagements and the planning and preparation of tax matters for a diverse clientele, serving as their primary point of contact.
  • Collaborate closely with senior team members and partners in all aspects of tax and financial reporting initiatives, contributing to the creation and execution of long-term planning strategies for various clients.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new clients, with a focus on enhancing internal operational efficiencies and delivering added value to clients through tailored reporting and the formulation of enduring tax strategies.
  • Ensure the punctual meeting of client deadlines for accounting and tax filings.
  • Stay well-informed about current developments in taxation and effectively apply this knowledge to client scenarios.
  • Proactively resolve tax-related concerns by engaging clients and team members directly, conducting in-depth tax issue research, and documenting these findings in tax memoranda or client communications.
  • Identify and comprehensively document tax filing positions, including rigorous risk analysis.
  • Seek out opportunities to streamline accounting and tax processes within our team, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and capacity.
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with tax authorities and clients on matters pertaining to tax audits, appeals, and tax positions.
  • Collaborate with our Tax and Assurance Manager and Partner to provide training for fellow team members, perform quality control assessments, and offer constructive feedback on their work.
  • Act as a resource for team members, actively contributing to the expansion of their tax and accounting knowledge and proficiency.

In this strategic role, you will collaborate directly with our Tax and Assurance Manager to gain a deep understanding of our clients’ accounting and reporting challenges. You will focus on devising streamlined, cloud-based solutions to address these challenges. The Tax and Assurance Manager oversees project management, and your role will involve supporting them in managing client expectations.

You will serve as a valuable technical resource, not only for our clients but also for your colleagues within the ATMOS team. Reviewing work completed by other team members will also be a part of your responsibilities. While you will engage in hands-on file work, this aspect of the role will be secondary to your primary functions as a technical expert, client experience manager, and quality assurance reviewer.

This position offers a highly engaging and interactive work environment, allowing you to be at the forefront of delivering top-notch accounting and tax services. You will have the full backing of ATMOS resources to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of these services. Given the diversity of our clients, extensive experience in accounting and tax is a prerequisite, as you will take the lead in enhancing the client experience. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will support the corporate compliance group by assisting with a-la-carte tax preparation and compilation engagement file preparation when needed, all accomplished through efficient resource allocation.

ATMOS Financial Services Inc. operates as a fully cloud-based organization, primarily relying on cloud-based accounting platforms. For applications that are not cloud-based, we utilize a proprietary VPN solution for secure access. Proficiency in CaseWare (with JazzIt templates), TaxPrep Suite, QBO, Dext, Plooto, and Wagepoint is considered a valuable asset. If you’re not already certified in these applications, we anticipate that you will pursue QBO certification and potentially other relevant programs upon joining our team.
